Teaching Experience
OVERVIEW: My teaching experience includes two undergraduate and five graduate teaching assistantships for upper- and lower-division psychology courses (between 15-150 students) and the completion of an advanced university pedagogy certificate. My teaching philosophy incorporates my own research and the work of others into my lessons to illustrate how scientific data gives rise to formal psychological theory. In contrast to stating our knowledge of the field as established fact, my approach aims to help students develop the necessary skills to think critically and productively about information presented within and beyond academia. I help students achieve these outcomes by employing a repertoire of educational techniques that allow me to adapt to teaching a wide range of learners (e.g., research assistants, undergraduate students, fellow postdocs) in various classroom environments (e.g., online, large lectures, laboratory-based).
